Clonazepam 2mg - 80 Tablets

Clonazepam used as an anti-anxiety medication from the benzodiazepine which includes valium, Xanax, lorazepam or Ativan or Dalmane. Clonazepam and or benzodiazepines work by enhancing the effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain receptors.G.A.B.A known as a neurotransmitter (chemical that nerve cells use to communicate) that inhibits the brains activity and excessive activity in the brain could lead to anxiety and or other psychiatric disorders. Clonazepam is used to prevent specific types of seizures in epileptic patients.

PREPARATIONS: Tablets given orally -0.5, 1, and 2 mg.

STORAGE: All tablets are to be kept at room temperature usually between 15° and 30°C (59-86°F). out of the reach of children.

PRESCRIBED FOR: Clonazepam is used for short-term relief for types of anxiety. Widely used to medicate types of seizures including Akinetic seizures, petit mal seizures, Myoclonus seizures and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome controlled with Clonazepam and may be used alone or together with other medications for these epileptic disorders.

DOSING: The dosage of Clonazepam is specifically tailored for patient's needs. For epileptic seizures in adults the initial starting dose 1.5mg in 3 divided doses daily. Sometimes dose may be increased 0.5mg upto 1 mg daily every 3 days if seizures are not fully controlled .

Recommended dosage for panic/anxiety disorders is 0.25 mg twice daily. The dose can be increased to the full dose of 1 mg daily after 3 days.

INTERACTION OF DRUGS: For Clonazepam like the majority of benzodiazepines, can accentuate the effects of other drugs used that slow the brain's processing functions, such as alcohol and narcotics leads to further increased sedation in many cases.

PREGNANCY: Clonazepam and certain other benzodiazepines have been associated with damage to unborn babies and including congenital malformations especially when taken by pregnant women in the first trimester of pregnancy .Medically Clonazepam is always advised to be avoided in the first trimester and most likely throughout pregnancy.

NURSING MOTHERS: Benzodiazepines are passed on via the breast milk. It is advised that nursing mothers should not take clonazepam.

SIDE EFFECTS: The most noted, specific side effects associated with the use of clonazepam further sedation, which is reported in approximately 50% of patients. Dizziness is reported in one-third of patients, weakness, and unsteadiness. Some side effects include a feeling of depression and reduced orientation, headache and sleep disturbance.

Like all benzodiazepines, clonazepam can cause physical dependence. Suddenly stopping the dose after a few months of daily therapy may be associated with a feeling of loss or lowered self-worth, increased agitation and insomnia for patients, If clonazepam is taken continuously for longer than a 2-3 months, suddenly ending dosage may produce seizures, tremors, vomiting and muscle cramps, and/or sweating. Therefore discontinuation of the drug is usually accomplished by reducing and ending the dose gradually.
